FAQ about the Workshops
What's the minimum age for the workshops?
Our glassblowing workshop is open to children aged four and up.
Younger children can enjoy hand-building pottery, sandblasting, pottery painting,
laser engraving, and our vintage bead activities.
(Please note that an adult must accompany young children.)

Are parents allowed to accompany their children in the workshops?
We require adult supervision for younger children participating in our workshops.
Each child receives one-on-one instruction in the Lampwork bead-making workshop,

you're welcome to stay close by to watch and take photos.

the glassblowing workshop.
Can I participate if I have long nails or nail art?
Regular nail art shouldn't be a problem. We provide gloves for the glassblowing workshop.
However, depending on the workshop, excessively long nails or elaborate decorations could interfere with the activity, and in some cases,
may prevent participation.
Please be aware that the electric potter's wheel workshop is not suitable for those with long nails.
How much creative freedom do I have in the workshops?
Certain techniques have limitations on what you can create.
We have samples of possible projects at the reception desk to give you some ideas.
After you've chosen a project and filled out the registration form,
an instructor will guide you through the creation process.
I'm a complete beginner. Can I still join a workshop?
Absolutely! Our instructors are here to help everyone, including beginners and those who aren't confident in their crafting skills, have an enjoyable and successful experience.
What happens if I make a mistake?
Our instructors will guide you, aiming for a result similar to your chosen sample.
The real joy is in the hands-on experience,
and each handmade piece has its own unique charm.
Check out our customer creations gallery on social media for examples!
If something breaks during the workshop,
we'll usually ask you to start a new piece right away.
How messy are the pottery workshops?
You'll be working with clay, so your hands will get dirty during both the electric potter's wheel and handbuilding pottery workshops.
You can wash up at the workshop afterwards.
The electric potter's wheel uses a wetter clay to form the pieces,
so there might be some splashing.
We provide aprons and lap covers to help protect your clothes.

Electric Potter's Wheel and Handbuilding PotteryThese pieces are shipped approximately two months later, after firing and glazing.

Handbuilding Pottery:We offer a special two-piece course that you can sign up for on-site.
Pottery Painting:Please inform us at reception.
Is it possible for two people to collaborate on one piece?

While adult companions may offer limited assistance to younger children or participants
with disabilities in certain workshops, the instructor will provide the primary guidance.
Is there usually a wait time for workshops?
If you have a reservation, please arrive at your scheduled time.
You'll have some time to look at the samples and choose your project before the workshop begins.
Please be aware that there might be slight delays depending on how busy we are or other operational factors.
Walk-ins are welcome, but there may be a wait time depending on availability,
especially during peak seasons like Golden Week and the Obon holidays.
Can our group's pieces be shipped together?
Yes, we can ship your pieces together or individually, whichever you prefer.
You'll fill out the shipping form(s) at the reception desk on the day of your workshop.

Can I just participate in the experience without taking the finished product with me?
Yes, you're welcome to join a workshop just for the experience. This is a popular choice, particularly among our international visitors. Please keep in mind that the workshop fee remains the same.
Participants in the glassblowing and electric potter's wheel workshops will receive a complimentary piece made by one of our staff. You're welcome to take home any pieces you make during the sandblasting, kiriko cut glass, laser engraving, vintage beads, and Lampwork bead-making workshops. This is not an option for handbuilding pottery and pottery painting.
Do you offer airport delivery for finished pieces?
We are sorry, but we do not deliver to airports.
What should I know about the Lampwork bead-making workshop?
In this workshop, you'll make your own Lampwork glass bead, which can then be turned into a necklace, bracelet, keychain, or other accessory for an additional fee.
(We sell pre-made obidome and rings, but these are not part of the workshop.)

Besides the standard course, we have a special earring course (from ¥4,730).
To book the earring course, reserve the regular Lampwork workshop and pay the price difference on the day.

The standard Lampwork beads are about 1.5 cm. We also have a course where you make two smaller beads, about 1 cm each.

Here's a breakdown of the Lampwork workshop pricing:
The basic workshop starts at ¥2,750 for one bead. The total cost for the workshop and a finished accessory is usually around ¥4,000 to ¥5,000 per person.

The Lampwork workshop is open to children in elementary school and older.
No adult supervision is needed, as you'll receive one-on-one guidance from an instructor.
Children under the minimum age are not permitted to participate in the bead-making portion of the workshop.
However, an adult can make the bead,
and a younger child can then choose the accessory findings.

The beads need 50 minutes to cool. While you wait, feel free to explore Gora Park or have a snack at the park café.
If you're short on time, please let us know at reception when you arrive,
and we can discuss options.

You can make multiple beads! Just be sure to book a spot for each bead you want to create (e.g., two beads = two reservations).
Please keep in mind that each bead requires additional time and materials,
and will be charged accordingly.
